Humanity's Advent (2020)
What does it mean that God became Man? What does it mean that the Son of God was Incarnate? What does it mean to be Human?
First John 1 says, "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ."
This Advent series looks at what it means to be human, using this passage as a framework for tracing biblical symbols, themes, and types. We consider what it means that humans have a "Direction" (a front and a back); that humans "Hear" (with real ears); that humans "See" (with real eyes); and that humans "Touch" (with real hands).
To understand Christ as Human, we need to know what it means for us to be Human.
