From the Evangelical Theological Society's Eastern Region Meeting, held March 2, 2012 at Lancaster Theological Seminary (555 West James Street, Lancaster, PA 17603) and his sessions at All Saints Church, Lancaster PA.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Peter J. Leithart (Ph.D., University of Cambridge). Dr. Leithart is a senior fellow at New Saint Andrews College in Moscow, Idaho, and pastor of Trinity Reformed Church. Leithart has written numerous articles for publications such as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, First Things, Modern Theology, Journal of Biblical Literature and The Westminster Theological Journal, and he serves as a contributing editor to Touchstone magazine. He is the author of several books, including Deep Exegesis: The Mystery of Reading Scripture, Solomon Among the Postmoderns and 1 & 2 Kings in the Brazos Theological Commentary on the Bible.
The theme of our meeting, Constantine and Christendom, is taken from Dr. Leithart’s book, Defending Constantine: The Twilight of an Empire and the Dawn of Christendom (IVP Academic, 2010). Our conference seeks to engage various perspectives relating to the origins and historical developments following the “legalization of Christianity” and the development of Christian civilization.
