Psalm 34 - A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech (“my father is king” 1 Sam. 21:10-15, named Achish), who drove him away and he departed.
At all times I will bless Yahweh; His acclamations shall continually be in my mouth.
Boasting in Yahweh will my soul do; The humble will believe it and rejoice.
Cause the enlarging of Yahweh’s name with me, And let us call out together.
Deliverance came when I sought Yahweh, and He answered me, And He destroyed all my fears.
Exalting God the people looked and were radiant, And their faces will never be embarrassed.
Failing, this poor-fairing man cried, and Yahweh heard him and saved him out of all his failures.
Great is the angel of Yahweh who encamps around those who fear Him, And grants them rescue.
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Hallelujah! Taste and see that Yahweh is good;
I fear Yahweh with you, His saints; For to those who invoke Him there is no want.
Jaguars and lions sometimes lack for food and suffer hunger; But those who seek Yahweh shall not be in want of any joyous goodness.
Kids, listen to me; I will keep teaching you the fear of Yahweh.
Loving the length of days is good and the man who desires life should listen to me.
Make your tongue free of evil; Make your lips refrain from speaking deceit.
No evil do, but do good; Seek peace and never stop pursuing it.
Open are the ears of Yahweh to those who cry to Him; The eyes of Yahweh are observant toward the righteous.
Present is Yahweh’s countenance against evildoers, To cut away the presences of them from the earth.
Questioning the righteous cry out and He hears and delivers them out of all their quandaries.
Rescuing those crushed in spirit, Yahweh is near to the ruin-hearted.
Saving grace is given from Yahweh, even though many are the sufferings of the righteous.
The Tree is where He is crucified, though none of His bones are broken.
Undone of themselves shall be the wicked, And the unrighteous will be condemned.
Virtuous is Yahweh who redeems the soul of His servants, He values those who take refuge in Him, so none of them will be condemned. (Alphabetic paraphrase by G. Strawbridge)
