Psalm 8 is broken up into 3 sections: Glorification (vss 1-2), Relation (3-5), and Dominion (6-9). But it's also "enveloped" by the phrase "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth," which is found at the beginning and end of the Psalm.
In considering the Glory of God's excellent name, mankind's Relation to Him, and mankind's call to Dominion over all creation, the question arises: how can this be? I don't see everything in submission to mankind. Rather, mankind is fallen and so limited.
The only answer is the Triune God, and we get a hint of the fully-expounded New Testament doctrine of the Trinity right here. Only through mankind's knowledge of who God is--which is knowledge of His Name--do we understand how God intends to work in history. Through being part of God's new mankind, we enter into Trinitarian Humanity, which has three characteristics out of this psalm:
Trinitarian Humanity builds child fortresses for God's Name. Unlike the conception of the world around, children are the strength of the Church, and remind us of our glorious God and Father
Trinitarian Humanity is fully reliant on Christ, the True Man. Only through the incarnation and Christ's work is the Relation repaired between man and God. We must put our trust and hope in the Son and not in ourself.
Trinitarian Humanity will take dominion on earth through the power of the Holy Spirit. This Dominion will occur in history as the True Humanity united to the True Man is sent into the world. But this Dominion still is not the work of humans, but at the power of the Holy Spirit.
