One reason we are teaching on the topic of church discipline is that we want to excel in the service of God. As a congregation, we want to be faithful to the Word of God. Further, God’s reputation is on the line. When unrepentant sin is permitted in the church it sullies God’s name, defiles His reputation, and this disturbs us.
