There is a difference between maleness and masculinity or manliness. There are plenty of males in the world; but the number of men is far fewer. Maleness is a mere biological fact; given a certain anatomy a human being is male. But masculinity, manliness is not a mere matter of biology but of character. It is something that must be developed, striven after, and achieved.
