1 Peter 2:9-10 - But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
The kingdom of God which comes to fruition in the resurrected, ascended Messiah Jesus is a redemptive, rule that changes the real world. The Restoration of the Kingdom -
The original kingdom has been lost through Original Sin. There has been a fall of humanity which corrupted the kingdom purpose given to the human image-bearers of God. Adam and Eve were the original priests, kings and prophets. Adam was to be a priestly guardian in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15), to rule as king by subduing and filling the earth, as well as to declare the glory of God in naming and "gardenizing" the world outside Eden (Genesis 1:26-28). 2. The Roles of the Kingdom -
With this in view then, what is our kingdom agenda? How do we redeemed people live out Christ's redemptive restoration? Just as with grammar-school Israel, now junior varsity Israel (us) has three major roles. We are priests, kings and prophets.
1) Priests are servants in the house of God who guard, clean, pray and sacrifice.
2) Kings are rulers and warriors.
3) Prophets are counselors and court members in God's throne room.
