John 11: The Bad News About the Weight of Glory

John 11:35-37 - Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!” And some of them said, “Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?” (NKJV)

I. Bear the Weight of Glory When God Crushes You with It. (vv. 1-16)
Jesus could have saved Lazarus (Ponder the Geography).

II. The Bad News About Glory
Bear the Weight of Glory When You are Called to Foolish Faith. (vv. 17-44)
The indisputable facts

The audacious Christ
The call to faithful foolishness

III. Bear the Weight of Glory When Good Works Divide the Community (vv. 45-54)

One Distinctive Prophecy: Let one man die for the nation.
Zero Hope: Come to grips with the fact that the good works of God will not lead to peaceful unity.

IV. Bear the Weight of Glory for a Weeping God (vv. 33, 35, 38)
The depth of brevity
Witnessing the incomprehensible
What does this mean?
