John 11: The Bad News About the Weight of Glory

John 11:35-37 - Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!” And some of them said, “Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?” (NKJV)

I. Bear the Weight of Glory When God Crushes You with It. (vv. 1-16)
Jesus could have saved Lazarus (Ponder the Geography).
Jesus should have saved Lazarus.
Jesus makes sure that Lazarus dies.

II. The Bad News About Glory
Bear the Weight of Glory When You are Called to Foolish Faith. (vv. 17-44)
The indisputable facts
The undeniable faith of Martha and Mary
The audacious Christ
The call to faithful foolishness

III. Bear the Weight of Glory When Good Works Divide the Community (vv. 45-54)
Two distinct reactions: faith and apostacy
One Distinctive Prophecy: Let one man die for the nation.
Zero Hope: Come to grips with the fact that the good works of God will not lead to peaceful unity.
