I want to share with you some words of Thomas a Kempis, from the 1400s, writing on John 14:6—
“Follow thou me. I am the way and the truth and the life. Without the way there is no going;
without the truth there is no knowing;
without the life there is no living.
I am the way which thou must follow; the truth which thou must believe; the life for which thou must hope.
I am the inviolable way; the infallible truth, the never-ending life.
I am the straightest way; the sovereign truth; life true, life blessed, life uncreated.”
Indeed friends, this is the Christ we go forth to follow. The Way we go forth to proclaim to the world. He and the Father, together with the Spirit, are themself the Destination and the Direction. The Place and the way of Proceeding there.
