[  ] INTRODUCTION
[  ] THE BIBLE - Revelation 1:10-18 - I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, 11 saying, “Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches:  . . .  12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands .. . And He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. 19 “Therefore write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after these things.
[  ] ABOUT THE BOOK OF REVELATION - The Lectionary (Epistle) is from the book of Revelation for Eastertide. We will see the rich theme of Revelation as the New Creation promised in Christ and which has come because of His resurrection.
[  ] RESURRECTION AND THE LORD’S DAY - The entire vision of Revelation was given to John on the day of resurrection, the Lord’s Day (1:10). As John worshiped on the Day of the Lord/Lord’s Day, he was invited to see the imminent events of judgment, as well as the long-term prospects of the kingdom.
[  ] RESURRECTION AND GLORIFICATION - Christ appears to John in a glorified state (in symbolic terms) as resurrected (1:12ff). He is in a robe (not girded up) since His work is done. He shows the wisdom of the ages in white hair and brilliant features. His feet are like the temple altar, glowing in red-hot bronze and he speaks with the voice of nations of water. He holds stars (symbolic of the churches) in His hand. His words are a sword of power (for rule and destruction). His face is the countenance of the sun.
[  ] RESURRECTION AND AUTHORITY - Christ speaks to John the words of comfort with His right hand of strength. His exhortation is not to fear, but to write (publish, proclaim) these truths. John should not fear because - Jesus is the first and the last, the living One, He was dead, and now alive forevermore. He has the keys of death and of Hades.
[  ] RESURRECTION AND FEAR - Name Three Reasons why we should not fear death or the future:
